Okay, I have had a month… one of which I haven’t gotten much reading done. Except when it comes to my kiddo’s I read to them like crazy! This August Book List may be a little different from the rest.
I don’t know about you but I can not read in a moving vehicle and I feel as if I have spent all month driving back an forth from my families home to my home. So on the drive, I ease my mind by listening to a good book.
Then when I am home it is go go go between the garden, the house, and work so I listen as I get my tasks done.
So I have been listening to a few books instead.
Where I get my Lit List Listening Books
Most books I downloaded using one of three apps
- Audibles: We have all heard of them they are great and worth the low monthly fee. But now until December 2020 if you click here you will get 2 FREE downloads!! It’s like Christmas came early!
- Overdrive: A free app that links to many libraries. All you need is your library card. If you need a passcode as your library what it would be. The downfall to this service is your options are limited, either the book is checkout, or they do not have it on file.
- Libby: Another free app that links to many libraries. All you need is your library card. If you need a passcode as your library what it would be. The downfall to this service is your options are limited, either the book is checkout, or they do not have it on file.
I will add, in my experience both free apps that link to the library card if it is the same library it will more then likely be the same books, so just download whichever one your library recommends! Libby and Overdrive are connected companies.
August lit list For the Kiddos
This is a super cute book! It is all about manners and teaching your kids what do unto others really means! The thing I loved the most… well let me rephrase that… the other thing I loved about this story is in some parts it says things in multiple languages.
Descendants 3 came out this month. It was bittersweet to watch it since the passing of Cameron Boyce, such a young soul taken too early. However, from the moment my daughter says the first movie she was hooked, she was in love, everything was evil and that was good. Then she heard there were books!!
So, of course, being a supported, equally obsessed mom I just had to get the books and read them to her! The thing I like most is the movies tie into the books. Meaning that the books are not what the movies are about, they are the in-between moments the parts missed the unanswered questions.
Book 1 is how they started, then movie one came out, next book 2 is what happened between movie 1 and movie 2, then movie 2 came out…. you get the point. If your kid is as obsessed with the VK as mine these books are a MUST!
What would this monthly lit list be without a classic! Since school started this month, I think this book is fitting. Throughout the school year and life, you will always hit those moments where people won’t stop to help but you can’t give up. There will be those moments that are so trying you have to keep repeating I think I can I think I can… the celebrate your achievement.
