Hey mama! This month it is more of a rant then advice because I have none on this topic so if you do please share! Somethings gotta give when it comes to this …today we are talking about childcare!

Let me start off by saying no person should have to work 2 jobs, one to pay for childcare the other to pay their bills. That is ridiculous!
When I was looking at going back to work the most affordable daycare in my area was $205 a week.

Let me put something into perspective for those who say that it is not bad. If I make $14.00 an hour because I spend thousands of dollars to get certified to work in the medical field, I would only make $560 before insurance, retirement, and taxes for a 40 hour week.
Now let’s say 30% (which is low for most people) goes toward my insurance, retirement, and taxes which would be $168 per weekly check of $560.
Making my take-home pay is $392 then I pay childcare of $205 leaving me with $187.
This will make my monthly income if I get $187 a week for 4 weeks that would be $748.
How does $748 a month pay for the college I just went to for my degree and certifications, rent/mortgage, gas, electrical, water, car payment, insurance, groceries (with milk being almost $3), not to mention gas for the car, basic maintenance on said car that gets me to the job… Don’t even get me started on vet bills and other debts.

I mean somethings gotta give, really the cost of goods and services is ridiculous compared to the rate of pay. Then I turn on the news to hear they want to raise the minimum wage!!?!??! I spend thousands on a degree, and I won’t even be making that much, and there is no talk about people like me getting a pay increase!
So really come on… somethings got to give!!
Yes, that is the end of my rant. Now I must go search for job 2 so I can pay for my childcare so I can afford to pay for my bills.
Until next month,
