It’s national brownie day!! What better way to celebrate than a list of scrumptious Holiday Brownies Bars and Biscotti? How about a little history lesson on how brownies came to be? Yep, that’s how we do it around here!
Okay, so this Holiday season, so far, we have covered Santa’s Favorite Cookies, Fudge, Bark, and Truffles. So, where does that leave us? How about today we talk Holiday Brownies Bars and Biscotti our 3 favorite Bs.
Did you know the first brownie recipe published, back in 1896, did not contain chocolate? They were, what we consider these days, to be blondies.
Which leads me to a question how did brownies come to be? Here are a few stories, myths, if you may, to how brownies came to be.
- A chef accidentally added melted chocolate to biscuit mix
- A chef was making a cake but didn’t have enough flour
- The cook forgot to add baking powder
- They were purposely created as a dessert for a women’s group, something that was easier than pie to eat, but smaller than a layer cake, and could easily be packed in a box lunch.
Whatever the reason, we would like to thank whoever in the 1800’s decided to, or accidentally, created these divine, heavenly, chocolaty, melt in your mouth, things we call brownies!!
Holiday Brownies Bars and Biscotti are a simple way to add a little something different to those goodie boxes, or neighborhood dessert exchange this holiday season.
