Oh! Mother! I mean oh, Mother’s Day. From Mother’s Day Brunch to Mother’s Day Dinner we got you covered this year thanks to some amazing food bloggers.
Mother’s Day Dinner is a great way to show mom you care. There is nothing that says family more than gathering around a great meal talking, laughing, and just relaxing. I think that is why every holiday big or small needs a festive meal. Mother’s Day Dinner is a perfect way to show that special lady how much you care.
However, there are some rules to Mother’s Day Dinner that I think we should discuss.
- Rule #1: It’s about Mom no one else
364 days a year she cooks what the husband likes what the kids like and maybe occasionally squeezes in a dish she likes. Therefore, this day is about her, make what she likes. Ask yourself what is her favorite dish? Is it something you can make or is there something similar you can make? Then make that.
It doesn’t have to be fancy but the thought behind the dish will mean more than any words this Mother’s Day.
- Rule #2: Un-plug
I will keep this one shot and sweet. Remove all electronic devices from the table. A few hours of being unplugged is good for you I promise you will work perfectly fine without them. Give your mom your time, because you will NEVER get this time back
- Rule #3: Take your time, enjoy the moment
We rush and rush through life we forget to slow down and enjoy the little moment. Talk, get caught up, and remember to laugh a lot.
- Rule #4: DRAMA FREE ZONE
Don’t bring up politics, religion, anything reported by the news, or anything that will start an argument or cause drama. Be civil to the relative or people you have issues with, remember it is about Mom, not your problems.
- Rule #5: Keep it clean
Most floor plans these days are open, therefore, if you make a mess in the kitchen Mom will know. If Mom sees that mess she will not relax and enjoy the dinner so please don’t make this mistake. Find a simple recipe that will make it easy to clean as you go.
These rules are simple. Follow them and Mom will have an amazing peaceful Mother’s Day dinner. If you are still looking for some incredible recipes to serve up for mom this Mother’s Day look no farther than the list below!

Love the rule number 4, no drama. Amazing post. Indeed we need these rules
The Drama is why I avoid family holiday get-togethers, someone always says something, the tension you need a chisel to get through. Then the wine starts flowing and it is not pretty at the end of the day. I wish people would understand that when you bring it to a get together it is no longer between you and the other person everyone feels it. SO rule #4 was a must! Thank you so much!! Hope you have a wonderful week!
Some absolutely delicious dishes here! Thanks so much for including some of my dishes!

I am going to share those with my daughter so she can treat me and my mom. Mother’s day weekend, I am off the kitchen.
Okay!! I am totally jealous!! I think my kids and I will make some messy memories in the kitchen this Mother’s Day, but off kitchen duty sounds fabulous!
My family can definitely surprise me with any of these dishes, and I’ll be super happy! Great list, and great rules!
Thank you so much!! I hope you get a great yummy surprise this Mother’s Day!
I’m so happy that you mentioned to unplug! It is so important to put our phones down and enjoy the moment.
It is so important! I try to unplug every Sunday, and as I said in the other Mother’s Day roundup all I want this Mother’s Day is to be present and enjoy every giggle, fight, and all thing my kids. Life is moving by too fast and we want to cherish every small moment, so we should this Mother’s Day!
Loving these ideas! No worry dinner and just unplugging is what I am hoping for this year. Great dinner ideas! The Shrimp and Salsa looks delicious..huge fan of shrimp 😉
Thank you so much! I wrote in the Mother’s Day Brunch post that all I want this mother’s day is not to get presents but to be present. It is hard not to get swept away by the business of life these days. Hope you have a wonderful Mother’s Day and you get that no worry dinner and get to unplug a bit!
I love your 5th rule ! So accurate as moms dont rest if they see mess ! Totally agree:-)
Thank you! I think so many husband and kids forget that because we sit there and smile and attempt to be happy and only happy when that voice in our head is yelling “Get up and clean!” LOL I hope you have a wonderful Mother’s Day!
