It is almost that time of year again… you know… bring on the green!!! No, no, no not the moola, money green but the little green men, four-leaf clovers, green beer time! So what better way to celebrate this day of the year than with some fun festive Saint Patrick’s Day Meal Ideas!
I don’t know about you, but to me, Saint Patrick’s Day has this nostalgia feeling. Every year I whip up some corned beef with potatoes and cabbage crack open my favorite stout beer and drift away to a time before kids when I was carefree and to be honest a bit wild.
Saint Patrick’s Day Memories
One year I met up with some friends in Denver, they had been drinking since keg and eggs. They were already well in by the time I got there. The best buddy and I decided it would be wise to carry each other from bar to bar, but since he was much bigger than me the only way I could carry him was on my back. Just image a 95-pound girl with a 140-pound guy on her back, two crazy early 20 somethings we were!! Youth is defiantly not wasted on the young because if I was wise and young I wouldn’t have learned not to wear flip-flops while giving someone double my size a piggyback ride. Hey!! But I finished that pub crawl, with one shoe, yes, a flip with no flop.
However, the best part of those days is when we would all meet up at some random local pub for dinner. We would sit around a long table and order an amazing Saint Patrick’s Day Meal! We may have been young and stupid, and honestly quite intoxicated, but we all looked out for each other made sure no one got too out of hand or too intoxicated. Living, laughing, and enjoying the small moments.
Oh, to be young again… Nah!! Just let it be because you can’t create a memory twice!!
Now most of us from that day are now married with kids and have careers we are still building, but all in all, life has turned out pretty good.
My Wish for you this Saint Patrick’s Day
This Saint Patrick’s Day, I hope you enjoy a good time, whether you are young and adventurous or you are older and with a family, remember to make everlasting memories, ones that fill your heart with joy, and overwhelming happiness. I know right!! Or you can just celebrate all week one dish a day!! LOL
I’ve got to be honest, I never cared for the St. Patrick’s Day food. But in my pre-children years I sure did enjoy the holiday celebrations!
Well, thanks for being honest! I used to not be a huge cabbage fan, now I can’t get enough of it!
I have really started to like shepard’s pie. I didn’t care for it when i was younger so maybe that explains why my kids aren’t huge fans.
Isn’t it crazy how things like taste buds change as you get older!! I was just commenting on how I used to loath cabbage and now it is one of my favorites!! Maybe one day your kids will learn to appreciate shepherd’s pie just like you so now!
