Sometimes you just have to go for it no matter how uncomfortable it may appear. This Simple Herb Pork Chop recipe was the first full Instagram recipe story I did and I was a complete mess, but the food came out great!! Since I shared it on Social Media about a month ago I figured it is time to publish the actual recipe!
Well, guys if you follow me on Instagram and watch my stories you will recognize this Simple Herb Pork Chop. This recipe was my first horribly awesome recipe share.
On the Instagram story, I shared how to make this pork chop with a Sun Dried Tomato Potato Hash. It was my first attempt at doing a video Instagram story, and it was… well… interesting. I guess I need to get comfortable with being in front of the camera and hearing my own voice.
When making pork the most useful tip I ever received was to NEVER take the pork out of the fridge immediately season and toss in the hot pan. Always take it out of the fridge and allow to slightly warm up on the counter (15-30 minutes) this will help prevent that tough seized up pork texture you get when placing cold meat in a hot pan.
Mix together the thyme, garlic powder, dried oregano, rosemary, salt, and pepper. After pork has rested lay flat and sprinkle one side with the seasoning blend. Melt butter in the bottom of a deep skillet (I recommend cast iron). Place pork chops seasoned side down into melted butter and brown over medium heat. While the first side is cooking season the opposite side. Flip and brown the other side. The internal temperature of a bone in pork chop should be 145 degrees Fahrenheit when it’s fully cooked.
The next step is to make the Sun-Dried Tomato Potato Hash. First… what a minute that is scheduled for Thursday. Looks like I will see you later this week to conclude this dish.

Simple Herb Pork Chop.
- 4 thick cut pork chops
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1/2 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp dried thyme
- 1 tbsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tbsp dried rosemary
- 1 tbsp salt and pepper
- Take Pork Chops out of the fridge and allow to slightly warm up on the counter (15-30 minutes) before cooking.
- Melt butter in a cast iron skillet over medium heat. In a small mixing bowl combine garlic, thyme, oregano, rosemary, salt, and pepper. Lay Pork Chops flat and sprinkle one side with the seasoning blend.
- Place pork chops seasoned side down into melted butter and brown over medium heat (5-6 minutes per side). While the first side is cooking season the opposite side. Flip and brown the other side. The internal temperature of a bone in pork chop should be 145 degrees Fahrenheit when it's fully cooked.
- Remove from the pan, set aside, and let rest 5-10 minutes before serving and cutting.
