Wow, where does time go? Do you ever look back and feel like you have done nothing? That you have gotten nowhere with your goals? Well, I am here to tell you, that is the tough part about debt. Progress no matter how small progress is. Don’t get discouraged with the pace things are happening to you.

But, first let me share some raw true feelings, some self-thoughts with you:
This month has marked a year since I started my journey to getting my shit straight and if I am being honest this hole, I have gotten myself into is draining. It is the tough part about debt. It is much bigger than I thought. I want to do more, but I am at a loss.
It is very rewarding at times as well. Like when you pay off a bill or lose a huge chunk of debt like when you sell a house. This Getting Your Shit Together is just an emotional journey.
Since last year we have
- Sold our house Getting Ride of Two Mortgages
- Paid off $10,200 in Credit Card Debt
- Paid off $7,600 in car-payments
- Paid off $5,900 in loans
- Unexpectedly put a dog down ($1,600) Cancer Sucks
- Got a new puppy ($150.00)
- Moved From Texas to Colorado ($2,500)
We Still have
- $33,800 in Credit Card Debt
- $16,000 in car-payments
- $10,200 in loan payments
- Plus, a parent plus student loan for my husband we pay every month which we owe $12,600.

At the moment I am not working other than the blog. I find it hard to justify only bringing home $100.00 a month, if that, for 160 + hours a month of work after paying for daycare which can cost anywhere from $12,000-18,000 a year.
Not to mention if my child gets sick at school or the little one at daycare, I am the one that must go pick them up. When my son starts speech next year, I am the one that must bring him. When my daughter has IEP meetings I must go so I know what’s going on with her care at the school.
Yes, I am married but my husband works on wind turbines, and just like the oil field it is not a very flexible job.
Finding employers that understand you are not trying to be unreliable is challenging. It just doesn’t seem fair that I feel I must choose between financial stability and making sure my kids get the care they need to thrive. It would be great if therapy centers were open on the weekends, but they are not. Please don’t take that as whining or complaining it is just honesty!

It is all very discouraging, but it is doable. We will get there and next month I will share with you my 2020 game plan. Even though the tough part of debt I see the light. Even if it is a pinhole.
Guys, we all can’t be the Budget Mom (I lover her by the way). We all have different struggles. Some of us can pay it off in one year, some are like me it may take 2-3. This is not due to just the amount of debt and income, but it also involves other expenses.
For me and my family, it is all the special needs care my kids NEED. Speech, ABA, and all the others we have been to the last few years.
So, if you’re like me and discouraged that it is not happening as fast as you want it to and you feel like some months you are getting nowhere. You are not alone, and I am here to tell you to keep it up. You will see results; you will get there at the pace that is meant for you.
This month I challenge you to come up with a tradition to celebrate the end of the week. Whether your week is good or bad you made it through! You get more chances to try. You get more chances to get closer to achieving your goals. A simple reminder that progress is still progress.
