Valentines Day Mom Truth Talk
Call me crazy, but after being married for 10 years and having 2 kids under 10, if Valentine’s day doesn’t fall on a Friday or Saturday I really don’t want to go out. I work all day. Chase the kids all day. Run errands all day. All I want is my fat girl sweats some good food and a movie snuggled up on my cozy couch.
Now don’t get me wrong I love it when he plans special dates and when we have a date night. But sometimes a romantic Dinner for Two with a bottle of wine is all I need. No heals, no makeup, no bra, and the understanding that I am tired and just want to snuggle is enough.
Any moms out there that feel the same way?
If you do feel the same way make it an impressive, special, and cozy night with one or maybe two of these Valentine’s Dinner for Two favorites, and stay in!

My mouth is now watering! These all look delicious! I know my husband would love the Filet mignon and I would love to try duck in the crockpot! Great ideas!
I know just looking at them makes your mouth water, but smelling them as they cook… Oh me oh my I am getting hungry just thinking about it and I just ate!! I hope you and the hubby have a very happy stress free Valentine’s Day and thank you for your kind words!!
I love these ideas for a home-cooked Valentine’s Day meal! My husband’s birthday is also Valentine’s Day, so these work well for a special birthday dinner as well. Bookmarking! Thanks for sharing 🙂
Well, that is a VERY special day then!!! HAPPY EARLY BIRTHDAY to you hubby then!! And yes these work for any special occasion, even Saturday’s which are special because it is always a blessing to make it through another week!! Thanks for the Bookmark!!
Oh my! These dinners ALL look so delicious! I love surf and turf on Valentine’s Day. Lobster tails are my favorite. But I hear so much about that InstaPot so I think I’ll get me one and check out that recipe for V-Day! Thanks for sharing! HAppy Valentine’s Day for you and yours!!!
I got an Instant Pot for Christmas and let me tell you I L-O-V-E IT!! I made a roast a few weekends ago, one that typically takes me all day to slow roast only took 1 hour and it was so tender and juicy!! Lobster is one of our favorites we usually do surf and turf for special occasions, a little something for everyone!!
I rarely go eat out on Valentine’s Day. The wait is too long, the restaurants are so packed, and it ends up just being a lot more stressful than enjoyable in my opinion. I think making dinner at home is the way to go. Not only can you enjoy a nice home-cooked meal, but you can also have fun making the meal together, should you choose to do so. I love variety of these recipes – I would definitely love to try the lobster tails, the steak salad, and the salmon!
GIRL… You said it more stressful than enjoyable!! I tell my husband if he wants to take me out we will celebrate another night because the crowds and commotion put me in a bad mood, and who want to be around a bad mood women on Valentine’s Day. Thank you these bloggers are truly amazing and their crafts and the food actually tastes better than it looks if you can believe that!!
What a great selection of dishes! I might double it and “invite” our kids to dinner too! ?
I am going, to be honest, my kids will more than likely eat with us. They have this tendency to make sure I am tucked in at night when they are tucked in if we don’t go to bed at the same time they won’t sleep. In a way it is a good thing because I probably would be up all night working if that didn’t happen. I hope you and the FAMILY have a very wonderful and yummy Valentine’s Day, check back next week for the Valentines Day Sweet Treat Round-up!!
So many yummy recipe options. It’s good to get a break from the kiddos!
Thank you!! Oh, a kid-free break is a nice break, these days I am lucky to get 3 a year LOL so when it happens it’s odd because I fell incomplete like I am missing a limb.
I love the “Spaghetti Alla Voda” recipe for Valentines Day.
So simple and easy to prepare, which is a must as we both work long hours.
As well as that, I think it looks “romantic”, that is of curse if you can say that about food.

I love simple recipes for special occasions, well, every day LOL Because let’s face it who has the time to spend hours in their kitchen. The Spaghetti Alla Voda reminds me of Lady and the Tramp which I felt was perfect for Valentines Day!!
Omg so many amazing options!! We love Valentine’s Day!!!
Thank you, these bloggers sure do amazing work!! Valentine’s Day is a great day, now it can be a yummy day!!
What a great roundup! Steak Salad is my favorite 🙂
Thank you!! Oh and the salad that spicy avocado dressing is amazing, my new fave healthy dressing for 2018!!
yum! a surf n turf style dinner is our usual go to. either shrimp or lobster with some sort of steak, veggies and potatoes then we do skillet cakes or cobbler for dessert! I have never made duck myself but I have had it at restaurant and enjoyed it- I don’t know if I am brave enough to try at home!
Surf and turf is usually our go-to as well, something for everyone!! The desserts sound amazing, I can never turn down a good cobbler. As for the duck, go for it girl!!! I know it is a bit intimidating but this recipe is so simple and cooking it in the crockpot ensures it is cooked low and slow!!
All of those look amazing! I haven’t even thought about Valentines day! I need to start preparing, I guess!
I was told by a wise old man when I was in my early 20’s the older you get the faster time goes. I didn’t believe him then, but looking back 10 years he was right. That is why I have started planning ahead because before I know it the day will come when I will be scrambling and stressed to plan.
omg i wish i could do this for my so for v-day 🙁 next year for sure haha
No rush, take your time love is great but can be hard, have fun looking and remember the most important thing is to always love yourself!! Make yourself something YOU enjoy or take yourself out. If I was you I would take myself out to a wine vineyard and a 5-star restaurant after a mani pedi and a facial. You deserve it, you deserve to be loved, you deserve to love yourself for the incredible human being you are!! Happy Valentines Day to you, celebrate you!
My anniversary is on valentine’s day and restaurants are always super crowded. For years my hubby and I would wait in lines for a table to celebrate but a few years of dealing with it, we decided to celebrate a week before (or after) to avoid the headache. Only more recently did we start having a nice dinner at home and all of these recipes sound amazing!!!! This year, though, we’ll be celebrating at Disney World! Just us two… courtesy of our kids ???
That is so true!! If we go it we just do it on a random day, dealing with the crowds and lines are anything but romantic! I must say you have some amazing kids, Disney World sounds wonderful, the most magical place on earth!
Oh my, these ideas are perfect for a romantic dinner date on Valentine’s. I can’t actually wait to try out a few of these dishes! 🙂
