Avoidance is never the answer. Being vulnerable is not a weakness, it is a strength. Vulnerability is a strength.
Yes, I am going to start off with just putting this out there. I was raised by strong women. As a matter of fact, if we were caught crying my grandma would say “Oh, quit your blubbering.”
I like to think society has come far with this. I like to think that showing vulnerability isn’t a weakness that it takes strength to show your true feeling and be comfortable putting yourself out there.
I like to think that masking your sorrow with food, alcohol, parting, or even work is a weakness and extremely unhealthy.
In May, I lost my pup to what we assumed to be pancreatic cancer. She was 8 and one of the best fur babies. When Jane was sick, she would lay with her for hours, when Eli started to walk, she would be there to caught him, when I was sad and dealing with depression, anxiety/panic attacks she was by my side. She kept we warm at night and one for my work buddies. She will be forever missed.
I took a week off work to adjust to my families new normal. Now it is time to realize that things move on even when you want life to just slow down and freeze.
I am better now that I have dealt with the loss. I can smile when thinking of her and the good times. I can write this post without crying. I can focus on work without drifting off into thoughts of sadness.
It took me a long time to view that vulnerability is a strength and not a weakness. But, now I am happy I am changing my mindset.
So there are the thoughts lets get to the highlights of May and a look ahead shall we!!
